Size Guide

Updated: July 13, 2026

Finding the right fit should feel reassuring, not like guesswork. This guide explains what to check, how to measure, and what to do when you are between sizes. Because fit can change from one style and fabric to another, the size chart and fit notes on the individual product page are always the best final reference.

Start with the Product Page

Open the size selector on the item you are considering and look for its product-specific size chart, measurements, fabric information, and fit notes. Those details belong to that particular style and should take priority over a general age label or the size you usually buy elsewhere.

If a product page gives garment measurements, compare them with a similar item you already own and like the fit of. Lay that garment flat, measure it in the same places, and allow for the amount of ease you prefer. Body measurements and garment measurements are different, so please check which type the chart uses.

Women's Sizing

Women's styles generally use adult labels such as XS, S, M, L, and XL. A label is only a starting point: a close-fitting woven dress, a relaxed knit top, and a stretch-waist skirt may all feel different in the same marked size.

For tops and dresses, begin with the fullest bust measurement, then check the waist and hip where the shape is fitted. For trousers and skirts, begin with the waist and hip, then review the rise, inseam, or length information when it is provided.

If you are between sizes, think about how you would like the garment to feel. You may prefer the larger size for a relaxed fit, layering, a non-stretch fabric, or more room through the bust or hip. You may prefer the smaller size only when the style is intentionally loose or the fabric has comfortable stretch.

Girls' Sizing

Girls' styles use the size labels shown on each product. Current listings may include age-based or combined labels such as 5-6Y, 8Y, 9Y, 10Y, 11Y, 12Y, and 13-14Y, with other options on selected items.

Age labels are a convenient reference, but children of the same age can have very different proportions. For a more confident choice, use the child's current height, chest, waist, and hip measurements and compare them with the chart for that item.

When a child is between two sizes, height and the most fitted part of the garment are usually the most helpful clues. Consider the larger size when room for movement, layering, or growth is important, while still checking that necklines, straps, waists, and hems will be comfortable and safe.

How to Take Measurements

Use a soft measuring tape over light clothing or close-fitting layers. Stand naturally, keep the tape level, and let it rest comfortably against the body without pulling it tight. If possible, ask someone else to help so the tape stays straight.

Bust or chest: measure around the fullest part, under the arms, with the tape level across the back. Waist: measure around the natural waistline, usually the narrowest point; bending gently to one side can help you find it. Hip: measure around the fullest part of the hips and seat with feet together.

Height: stand without shoes against a wall and measure from the top of the head to the floor. Inseam: measure from the crotch seam down the inside leg to the ankle or preferred hem point. Garment length: measure from the shoulder point or waistband to the hem, depending on the item.

For the best comparison, write the measurements down rather than relying on memory. Children grow quickly, so it is worth measuring again if a previous set of measurements is more than a few months old.

Fabric, Shape, and the Fit You Prefer

Stretch knits and elasticated waists usually allow more flexibility than structured woven fabrics. Smocking, adjustable straps, ties, and elastic can also change how forgiving a style feels. Product photos can help you see whether the intended silhouette is close, regular, relaxed, cropped, or oversized.

Think about when and how the item will be worn. If it will be layered over another piece, used for active play, or worn through a growth period, a little extra ease may feel better. For occasionwear or a fitted silhouette, compare every relevant measurement before ordering.

Caring for the Fit

Always follow the care label sewn into the garment. Heat, vigorous washing, or tumble drying can affect some fibres, colours, trims, and garment dimensions. When the label allows machine washing, turning the item inside out, using a gentle cycle, and reshaping it promptly can help preserve its appearance.

If the product has delicate fabric, embellishment, pleating, knitwear, or special construction, use the product-specific care instructions and choose gentle handling. The care label takes priority over general advice on this page.
